I'm a lifelong Disney fan, having found a strong admiration for Walt Disney (the person) after completing a school assignment on an influential historical figure. The story of Walt's life read like one of his movies - obstacles, successes, failures, and imagination leading to the enduring legacy we all know today. From there, I read every book I could get my hands on about Walter Elias Disney and the company he co-founded with his brother.
I spent the later part of high school working at a local Disney Store, and from there, had the extreme fortune of transferring to the Walt Disney World Resort working on Main Street USA. My time as a cast member continued as I came back north to attend college, spending my evenings and weekends again working at a local Disney Store.
My time as a cast member didn't last forever, and as hard as I fought it, I had to grow up. Over the years I found ways to be continued to be inspired by Disney no matter where I lived or what I was doing professionally, and had some truly remarkable experiences as a die-hard fan. Maybe someday my professional and creative experiences will lead me back to being a cast member and get to share my talents in furthering Walt's legacy -- but until then I'm enjoying being a fan. The story of Walt Disney continues to inspire me, and I love meeting other passionate fans who understand the passion I have for his legacy. That's what led me to create OF MICE AND MAIN.
I started of Mice and Main to use it as a vehicle to connect with other Disney fans, to bring fans together and share our passion for all things Disney. Hopefully we can bring a little Disney magic into your life each day, and provide you a brief escape from ups-and-downs of every day life.
I'm not sure how the community will develop, and where it'll take us, but as Walt once said, "we're just getting started."
